Wildlife is well and truly on the move at the moment. Birds, insects and aquatic life are in full spring swing.
We have had our bird feeding stations in action by the tearoom for a couple of weeks now, and a whole host of species are to be seen. Blue Tits, Coal Tits, Great Tits, Tree Creepers, Nuthatches, Sparrows, Greenfinches, are all making these feeders a hive of activity.
Other bird species are to be heard as well as seen, including our resident Ravens and their distinctive bark, Kestrels, Buzzards, Sparrowhawks, and the Tawny Owls have been very vocal for some weeks now. Plenty of Bees on the wing too, which is great news given the health of populations nationwide.
Whilst pond dipping in the stream at Spring Fest last Sunday we discovered this large concentration of Frog spawn amongst some bog Iris. Always a great sight and a sign of better weather to come.
